Re: Alt-Med Slapped Down Again
Thu, September 17, 2009 - 3:26 PMPfizer just got knocked for 1,000 times that. www.businessweek.com/bwdaily...3433.htm
Not trying to compare apples and oranges, but $2.8 million pales compared to what these supplement companies are raking in. It would be nice to see "supplements" get all the benefits of drug companies... and the setbacks too. -

Re: Alt-Med Slapped Down Again
Thu, September 17, 2009 - 3:43 PMI think there is a widespread view that Big Alter and Big Pharma are somehow to be treated differently. Big Alter is no more likely to be honest or ethical than Big Pharma. The main differnence is that when it comes to regulation and testing Big Alter gets a free pass just because they claim their products are "natural." -

Re: Alt-Med Slapped Down Again
Thu, September 17, 2009 - 6:22 PMMore and more Big Alter and Big Pharma are becoming the same. Big Pharma discovered that there was a bundle of money to be made by selling Homeopathic meds. Even better - no regulations to stop them. -

Re: Alt-Med Slapped Down Again
Fri, September 18, 2009 - 5:25 AMI totally agree that it's really quite silly when people try to make out that Big Pharma and Big Vita are different when they're more or less the same - they're both pill pushers who are about profit first and last. Big Vita gets away with much more most of the time, of course, since they're not at least slightly reigned in by consumer protection regulations but little things like regulations don't get in Big Pharma's way. It always somewhat boggles my mind when someone rails on about Big Pharma being evil corporate greedmongers and then is totally naive and trusting about Big Vita. Or they go on about over-medicating but take handfuls of vitamins and supplements each day and trust what Big Vita claims (and don't bother to eat properly...they're obsessed by nutrients and being "natural" but consider pills natural and food denatured....sigh....maybe it's due to mental decline from lead poisoning from Chinese medicines and supplements...).
